Société de transport de Sherbrooke
Société de transport de Sherbrooke (STS) is the public transit authority for the City of Sherbrooke. It plans and operates the urban bus network, fares and passes, trip planning, and digital tools such as the STS+ app for residents and visitors.
Its mission is to provide mobility across its service area with professionalism and a strong client experience, while supporting sustainable development in Sherbrooke. STS also offers complementary services, including on-demand transit, mobility partnerships, and paratransit for riders admitted to that program.
NCF validation built for paratransit

On paratransit vehicles, STS wanted to replace manual or unclear pass checks with a simple tool that stays on an Android tablet throughout the trip. We developed the Validateur app. It remains open during service, invites the client to hold a smart card near the NCF reader, sends the identifier to the STS validation service, and follows a guided flow: ready to scan, validation in progress, valid or invalid pass. The interface is bilingual, supports optional sound feedback, handles network and NCF reader errors, and uses telemetry to monitor reliability in the field.

A screen ready to scan aboard the vehicle
The tablet continuously shows an invitation to hold the smart card near the NCF reader. Wording, STS card artwork, and full-screen layout are designed for in-vehicle use without complex steps for the client.
Immediate feedback after validation
When the monthly pass is accepted, the screen confirms success and allows the next client to be served. Optional sound effects reinforce the outcome inside the vehicle without exposing technical details.
Settings suited to operations
Teams can set display language, light or dark theme, keep the screen awake during the trip, and enable validation sounds. A link to the STS privacy policy completes the legal section of the app.
